Mayor Doyle: ‘We will bounce back’

-

AS we come to terms with the ‘new normal’ for life in our town, Cork County’s citizen Mayor of County Cork, and public representative for Charleville, Cllr. Ian Doyle issued a statement of support and solidarity to his fellow Corkonians:

“These are unprecedented times and we all have to make adjustments, hopefully temporarily, to the way we live our lives, at least for the foreseeable future. But with resolve, for which we are famous, and the co-operation of all, and following the advice of the medical experts, we will put all this behind us when the virus runs its course. Until then we need to look out for one another, especially the most vulnerable in our society.”

Speaking directly to the community in his home town of Charleville, Cllr. Doyle said “we have a fantastic town and caring community, and this disruption of the business, community, cultural, sporting, religious and industrial life of the town will be costly both financially and otherwise, leading to job cuts, but the people affected will receive government support.

“However, we will bounce back as we have done at other times of crises. Everybody is affected by the present pandemic of Covid-19, and until we curb the virus it is essential that all people, young and old, observe the advice of the government and the medical experts to the limit and stay healthy, and we will get through this current emergency together,” said Mayor Doyle.
