Chamber AGM cancelled
THE Covid-19 virus pandemic has forced the cancellation of the annual general meeting of Charleville Chamber for the second time, as an administrative error caused the initial meeting to be abandoned when the correct notification was not sent out to members.
This happens at a critical time for the town when it badly needs representation on many levels, not least in keeping an eye on the route of the proposed M20 motorway, which will prove so vital to the future wellbeing of Charleville.
The Chamber has been reorganised with a new president chosen to replace P. J. McCarthy who has stepped down from the position after many years, and an excellent committee drawn from the business sector of the town, for the most part, is in place. They are now waiting to get to work on matters relevant to the town, and have identified a number of issues essential to the wellbeing and future of Charleville.
As soon as the new president is installed and the committee is in place, they are ready to act immediately on these issues, which will be made public at the appropriate time on the resumption of normal business.
In the meantime, the new directors-elect will be keeping in touch with one another on various matters.
They are also conscious that a major boost is required to kick-start business again when the emergency is over in an effort to restore trade, which has taken a huge hit with the enforced closures, to its former state.
