COVID-19

As instructed by the Catholic Bishops in Ireland, all public masses and Church services are suspended until further notice, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. At this time “all are dispensed from the physical obligation to attend Sunday Mass. However, Castlemagner Church remains open during the day for private prayer. Copies of the parish newsletter are available to the public on the table at the back of the church. With a view to keeping the faithful spiritually connected, the following is a list of media where religious services can be accessed.

Radio Maria is available on Saorview Channel 210. This station is led by Fr. Eamonn McCarthy who is a priest from the Cloyne Diocese.

RTE will air mass every weekday from St.Eunan’s and St.Columban’s Cathedral Letterkenny on RTE News Now at 10.00 am each morning.

RTE News can be accessed on Saorview channel 21, Virgin Media channel 200, Eir channel 517 as well as via the RTE Player app.

Mass is broadcast daily on local radio from 10.00 am from Kanturk Parish Church celebrated daily by V. Rev. Canon Toby Bluitt P.P., V.F .and Rev. John Magner C.C. Spiritual Holy Communion is offered at this mass for the faithful. This is available from 10.00 am each morning on 107.2 FM.

Mass is broadcast daily from St. Mary’s Church, Mallow, online at www.churchservices.tv/mallow where the schedule of their masses can be viewed live also.

In these anxious times we can find strength, consolation and hope in prayer. May God protect those on the front lines, especially doctors, nurses and all medical staff. May we all play our part by keeping well and practising good hygiene standards and follow HSE guidelines on physical distancing in particular. That way we will slow down the transmission of the virus. As a parish community let us keep each other in our prayers and exercise the reality of the Confiteor Prayer, where it is written “I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and YOU my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God, Amen.”

V. Rev. Canon Toby Bluitt P.P., V.F. and Rev. John Magner C.C. continue to offer mass every day for all our intentions.

If there is anyone in the community who is finding it difficult to get to the shops or pharmacies, particularly older and vulnerable people during the present crisis, we are posting a list of phone numbers of Castlemagner GAA club members who you can phone and who will do their best to help in any way to collect whatever you need.
