ST. ROCK OR ST.ROCH C.1295 -1327

FEAST DAY: 16th AUGUST Patron Saint of contagious diseases also the patron saint of dogs

It is believed that St. Rock was born in Mountpeilier, France and that’s where he died. While on pilgrimage in Italy, he healed many people, who were suffering from the plague ravaging Italy at the time. Hence nowadays, he is invoked to protect people from cancer, which is the plague of our time. At this time, we invoke his intercession against COVID 19, which is causing so much suffering and death throughout the world.

PRAYER TO ST. ROCK

O God, who by the ministry of an Angel didst give to glorious Saint Rock a promise engraved on a tablet that whosoever would invoke his name should be preserved from pestilence and all mortal and contagious diseases. Grant that we, who revere his memory, may through his intercession, be delivered in soul and body from all mortal and contagious diseases through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Rock pray for us and preserve us from all mortal and contagious diseases.

This group has their own group messaging facility and each day bits of info, anecdotes, poems, prayers etc. are passed on by Secretary Mary.

Only what is suitable and correct is passed on as there is a lot of false info out there. About 2 messages per day is the norm. If any member would like to share something they can do so by contacting Mary on 0872036947

We all need to look out for each other, make that phone call or sent a text. Obey the rules especially on social distancing and washing hands and disinfecting. A suggestion by one member is every time you wash your hands, say a Hail Mary, it takes that time to wash your hands as recommended.

A lot of members and many others besides in Clondrohid are lighting a candle in a window at night around the same time and say ing prayers. Uniting together though separated. Please use a battery candle for safety. A novena to the Sacred Heart for nine days.

Daily Mass is available on the channel RTE NEWS NOW at 10.30 am each day on Saor View Channell 22 and Sky 521 There is also a Parish Council and Clondrohid Parish messaging service. Fr Joe’s number is 0872712058 Healy s Spar Shop has offered to do home deliveries if required. Contact them on 026 41233 Great to see everyone in Clondrohid doing the best they can and putting their shoulder to the wheel

ADVICE

Please stay safe everyone and stay isolated. By the time this goes to print there could be further restrictions on movement in place. We would ask that everyone follows the guidelines provided by the government and the HSE. It may be a god idea to keep a diary of where you were and who you met. In the unfortunate event that you may get the virus this will help in the contact tracing effort. We will come out the other end of this but everyone needs to play their part and stay isolated.

It is hoped to have both the March & April draws on April 26th.

TRIP TO CROKE PARK - SUNDAY APRIL 19TH

Kilbrin GAA in an effort to follow best practices and in line with HSE guidelines have decided to defer our trip to Croke Park due to take place on April 19th 2020 to a future date. As a club we were really looking forward to playing on the hallowed ground of Croke Park and even more so to face our friends from across the water CúChulainns.

However in these unprecedented times our community’s health must become the number one priority. We hope to come back with a new date for this event in the near future and give the people of Kilbrin near and far something to look forward to when all this is over.
