BOWLING

SYMPATHY: The death occured recently of Raymond Crowley, Douglas, Cork and late of Bandon. son of Bol Chumann’s, chairman, Flor Crowley, he was a hugely influential figure to many who served in administrations that succeeded those at the helm in 1954. He served on the executive of Bol Chumann for many years. He was official scorekeeper at many home international events, along with his friend and colleague in cork county council, Liam Mullins. As council engineer he helped ensure that suitable surfaces were maintained on the games premier venues. A quietly spoken man, he was a gentleman of the highest calibre. The bowling fraternity would like to extend their deepest sympathies to his family, neighbours and many friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace

SYMPATHY: Donie Lucey of Timoleague passed away to his eternal reward recently. Well known in bowling circles, he was a well known character on the bowling roads. Very popular with everyone, he will be sadly missed. The bowling fraternity would like to extend their deepest sympathies to his family, neighbours and many friends. May his soul rest in peace

SYMPATHY: The unexpected passing of Jerry o Donovan, Whites Cross, chairman of the North East Region caused wide spread shock within the bowling world and the wider community. He was a member of the executive for several years, which he attended on a regular basis. He refereed many scores on the Carrignavar road, as well as stewarding. As chairman of the region, he had a major input into the Grenagh club, who hosted the all Irelands in 2017 and 2018. He was a top junior player in younger days. He won a Munster novice 1 championship title at Coachford in 1987, where he played Joe O Callaghan of the Gaeltacht. Last December, the region lost its hon secretary, Stephen Sewell. A major loss to the region and the Grenagh club. The bowling fraternity would like to extend its deepest sympathy to Jerrys family, neighbours and many friends. May he rest in peace.
