JILL Farrell Opticians is one of Munster’s leading independent Optician practices. She has clinics across Cork and Limerick. She operates out of Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre, as well as her clinic in Newmarket. Jill has operated a clinic within Dr. Berty Daly’s medical practice for the past ten years.
Jill ensures that the practice is one hundred per cent focused on providing top-class eye care through personal service and ensuring that she has the latest technologies. Jill Farrell, a native of Castletownroche, is a highly trained and experienced professional Optometrist with over 25 years’ experience. Her focus is to ensure your eye test is performed with excellence in mind.
By utilising leading cutting-edge technologies for the last number of years such as her OCT scanning machine and her Retinal Camera – this provides an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Jill is one of the first Opticians to acquire an OCT scanning machine, having been trained in the UK in retinal and ocular media analysis using the OCT. These machines can diagnose and monitor many conditions such as Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration. By using cutting edge diagnostic technology, Jill can pick up problems earlier, and get them seen to immediately. This means better and more reassuring eye tests for you.
Jill ensures to keep her expertise up to date. Her most recent achievement is in ‘Acute Eye Care for Ireland’ (MECS OSCE). This allows Jill to offer the service for acute emergencies in eye care. This is where foreign bodies can be removed from a person’s eyes, to save a trip to A&E. Jill has advanced her research and knowledge in Retinal and Diabetic Retinopathy studies. She continues to take referrals for Slit-lamp examination for Diabetics.
Jill’s main advice is that ‘regular eye examination can reduce the risk of blindness in many cases such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Vascular Occlusions and Glaucoma’. Jill is also an advocate for our increasing elderly population. Their level of eye care needs to be higher. Jill also supplies and fits Low Visual Aids and can accommodate home visits where necessary.
