Students play their part during Wellnness Week
THROUGHOUT this unprecedented time of Covid-19 lockdown Boherbue Comprehensive School realised that we had to place greater impetus on our school community’s well-being.
Throughout the experience the staff of the school have been very supportive of our students and their parents. Phone calls were made and emails were sent in an effort to help those that need it.
Staff are keenly aware of the difficulties students are facing and are supporting them through virtual classrooms and Google Classroom.
The focus is not just on academics but also on the students’ physical, social and emotional well-being.
This saw the school undertake Wellness Week from Monday 18 - Friday 22, with a range of fun activities organised throughout the week.
Monday Motivation saw students taking part in a ‘ Mr Motivator’ style workout and setting some SMART goals.
Try it Tuesday encouraged students to try something new, learning phrases in a new language, juggling, baking etc.
Workout Wednesday gave students the opportunity to sample new fitness workouts.
Together Thursday brought students together for a virtual catch up through Zoom facilitated by Mrs O’Donoghue and Mrs Fitzgerald during which each year group had a meeting in which they chatted and played games.
Friday was the schools first (and hopefully last) Virtual Sports Day. The ‘Lockdown Games’ involved 10 activities, a combination of fitness (push ups, sit ups, burpees etc.) and creativity (bike tricks, TikTok dances, cartwheels).
Overall it was a great week of connecting with students, their families and the community. All of the activities fed in to our ‘School Spirit Competition’ in which the school community is divided in to five teams and compete against each other to win points for their team throughout the year. The winning team this year was the Blue team.
