GAA CLUB NEWS

Return to Play - Football training has resumed with players and mentors glad to be back after the lengthy lay off due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Like all other organisations returning to contact activities the GAA has introduced strict procedures and guidelines to help reduce the risk of infection.

All players, team management and mentors must complete the e-learning Covid Education Module and Health Questionnaire before being allowed onto the pitch for games or training. It is also important that membership is paid in order to fulfil the club’s insurance requirements. Covid 19 Supervisors have been appointed to ensure the smooth transition back to activity.

Three in a Row - A nostalgic look back at the club’s 3 junior hurling championship victories in the 80’s recently inadvertently omitted Donal Kearney who was a selector during the 3 in a row period and also continued to be a selector up to the defeat of Kanturk in the Duhallow Final of 1987. Donal was actively involved in playing activities at that time also being a selector on the Junior B football championship winning team of 1981.

CORK PENNY DINNERS

Lismire will be a collection point for the Cork Penny Dinners at a date to be finalised in the coming weeks. Food and money donations can be brought to the Community Centre for collection and delivery to the Cork Penny Dinners. This is an initiative coordinated by the Kilbrin Volunteer Group where they hope to get every GAA club in Duhallow involved. The Cork Penny Dinners is a completely voluntary organisation with a charitable objective to feed those in need and to offer support to homeless people.
