Welcome return to action for Mallow Utd Boys Academy

-

MALLOW United were delighted to welcome Hourihan Sportsfield Developments Ltd to St Gobnaits Park last Thursday as they began the much anticipated development project at the site.

St. Gobnaits Park is the traditional home of underage soccer in Mallow and the club are embarking on an ambitious project to transform the grounds there into a modern facility to serve all members of the club and the wider community.

The project includes the installation of an all weather synthetic training pitch to be used by the club’s boys and girls academies, schoolboy and schoolgirl teams, football for all and youth and adult teams.

As the only all weather pitch on the south side of Mallow the facility will also act as an invaluable amenity to the local community, including local schools.

The project will also include the upgrade of the existing grass pitch with drainage, leveling and laying of a sand based pitch with increased capacity to host games.

There has been a lot of work done by people both inside and outside the club to get the project to its current stage and there is a lot more work to do to see it to completion.

The club will soon be announcing a new St. Gobnaits Park fundraising initiative that they will be inviting the community to get behind the club.

This Sunday morning will see a return to action for the Mallow United Junior side who have enjoyed a promising pre-season since returning to training in late June under the management duo of Ken Tuohy and Paul Cummins. The young Mallow side will face north Cork rivals Fermoy in the preliminary round of the

Junior League Cup in a much anticipated match.

The winners of the game will go on to play Douglas Hall at home the following Tuesday evening.

The Mallow United Boys Academy made a welcome return to action last Saturday, launching the new partnership with Coerver Coaching for the coming 2020/21 season.

The expertise delivered at the Mallow United Academy under the guidance of Coerver coaching will ensure the boys will develop the fundamentals skills of the game in an enjoyable and safe environment.
