CLONDROHID DEV GROUP

Thanks to all who are helping to keep the village and surrounds looking so well, neat and tidy, and colourful, and nearly litter free. Well done all. Thanks to Millstreet County Council for all their help with graveyard strimming and hedge cutting which took place last week from Glen Mill cross to Kelleher Oils Every little bit helps in these times when fundraising is not an option with covid.

All those walkers who use the Curragh Road will be glad to hear that the Development Group will be cutting it again when the season for cutting opens up in Sept. This road is a big asset to have in any village and hopefully will able to be maintained by this Group. Please remember that masks are mandatory now at all retail outlets and churches etc. Most importantly continue to wash hands and keep your distance from others.

GAA NEWS

Clondrohid Under 12’s got their 2020 football campaign up and running over a week ago with a fiercely contested game against Glengarriff. When referee Vaughan threw in at 7pm, Glengarriff started with force and banged in 3 goals and a point with more or less their first 4 attacks. Clondrohid somewhat shell shocked did manage to score a goal and a point before the 15 minute water break which in truth came at the right time to unsettle Glengarriff’s rhythm. Whatever was in the water, it seemed to kick Clondrohid into gear and they out scored their opponents 2 goals to 1 point in the final 15 minutes of the first half. Half time score Glengarriff 3–02 Clondrohid 3–01. The second half started and so did the scores for both teams nearly on every attack, there was a white or green flag raised, just as Clondrohid seemed to be gaining a strong hold on the game the second half water break came. Thankfully the break didn’t overly effect the lads and they held on to win a very entertaining game. Clondrohid 5–12 Glengarriff 5–06. Thanks to Glengarriff for making the trip and the sporting game, thank to the Ref and a big thanks to the parents who stayed to support the team.
