Wins for Charleville and Fermoy in minor hurling
Charleville 1-13 Ballycastle Gaels 0-12
THIS was a thrilling Rebel Og North MAHC game at Charleville on Wednesday evening. David Forde opened the scoring with an excellent sideline cut after 3 minutes. Gaels levelled when Dylan Collins pointed from long range.
The home side hit the front by Killian Cagney after 7 minutes. David Forde pointed another sideline cut. Aidan O’Leary replied for the Gaels. The only goal came in the 14th minute by David Forde. At the end of the first quarter the winners led 1-3 to 0-2.
There was an exchange of pointed frees in the 18th and 21st minutes and a further exchange that had the Rathluirc side 1-6 to 0-6 clear at the break.
Killian Cagney was very accurate from frees for the winners. Throughout the second half Patrick Sheehan, David O’Neill and Killian Cagney had points for the winners while Dan Roche and Dylan Collins replied for the Gaels.
In the end Charleville were four point winners. Best for the winners: Conor Reynolds, Brian Forde, Jack Baker, Killian Cagney, David O’Neill, David Forde and Jack Kilcommons. Ballycastle Gaels: Darragh Whelan, Colm Crowley, Dylan Collins, Dan Roche, Fionn Hess and Patrick Sheehan did well.

Fermoy 2-28 Mallow 1-9
FERMOY were comprehensive winners over Mallow in the Rebel Og North MAHC at Fermoy on Wednesday evening. The winners dominated all through. They did very well in the half backline where Jake Carr excelled at centre back.
Their attack in regular supply took some very good scores. Fermoy led 0-3 to 0-0 early on. Fionn Heffernan opened Mallow’s account in the eighth minute. Ben Twomey had Fermoy’s first goal 1-6 to 0-1.
Points by James Fitzpatrick, Jake Carr and Killian Fitzpatrick opened up a comfortable lead 1-9 to 0-2. A long range Mallow free by Sean O’Riordan was finbished to the net by Gearoid O’Donovan after 22 minutes 1-12 to 1-2. By half time Fermoy led 1-15 to 1-3.
Ben Twomey had his second goal on the changeover. Both sides made a number of substitutions with Fermoy always in control. They led at the end of the 3rd quarter 2-20 to 1-4.
Both sides exchanged a number of points in the final quarter but there was no denying Fermoy there easy win.
