Dromina enjoy big win over Ballyclough

DROMINA were comprehensive winners over Ballyclough in the JAHC at Milford on Friday evening. The sides were level 0-1 each after three minutes. The better balanced Dromina side gained control in the half backline and midfield sectors ensuring their attack were in regular supply. Diarmuid Buckley struck some fine points on the run.

Points by the Buckley brothers Brian (2) and Damian had Dromina ahead 0-6 to 0-1 after 17 minutes. Ballyclough’s second score came in the 24th minute by their best player Damian Buckley. Dromina finished the half very strong. Diarmuid Buckley had a goal and a point with Paddy Hassett with a late point giving the winners an interval lead 1-12 to 0-2.

Ballyclough lost key forward Thomas O’Neill through injury after 8 minutes.

The second half was much the same. Damian Buckley pointed an early free. The winners followed with their second goal by Pat Hayes 2-12 to 0-3. Paddy Burke and Diarmuid Buckley followed with points as Dromina led 2-14 to 0-3 after 38 minutes.

The winners keeper Eoin Finn saved well from Damian Buckley. A well placed puckout by Colm O’Neill found Damian Buckley who goaled. Entering the final quarter Dromina led 2-14 to 1-4. Both sides made a number of substitutions with Jason Finn having the winners 3rd goal in the 51st minute. In the end Dromina held out for a comfortable 16-point win.

Dromina have already qualified from the group. They still have tom play Doneraile. Ballyclough have to secure the points from their game with Killavullen if they are to come out of the group.
