Harbour Rovers 1-20 Buttevant 1-11

HARBOUR Rovers were impressive winners over Buttevant in the JAHC at Castletown­roche on Friday evening. The winners got on top from the start with top performanc­es by Philip Blackburne, Thomas Condon, Dave Pyne, John O’Sullivan, Stephen Condon and Padraigh Hannon. Early pressure had them 0-8 to 0-0 clear after 10 minutes when Stephen Condon (5) John O’Sullivan (2) and Padraigh Hannon were on target.

Buttevant replied with two points by Mark Lenahan. By the end of the first quarter the winners led 0-8 to 0-2. Stephen Condon added three frees with Shane O’Riordan also pointing. Mark Lenahan kept Buttevant in touch with points. At the break Rovers were 0-12 to 0-4 clear.

The trend was much the same on the changeover. Harbour Rovers moved 0-15 to 0-6 ahead before Shane O’Riordan hit the net 1-15 to 0-6. Jerome Fitzgibbon pointed for the Glanworth side with Kevin Lenahan replying from play 1-16 to 0-8 as they entered the final quarter.

Eric O’Donoghue and Anthony O’Neill swopped a point. Stephen Condon added two more frees. Mark Lenahan had a late goal with Kevin Lenahan adding a point 1-19 to 1-11.

In injury-time Stephen Condon had his 13th point as the Glanworth side emerged nine-point winners.
