The Corkman

Bríd making waves on the art scene

-

LOCAL artist Bríd Moynahan has had three pieces of work included in an exhibition in the Greenacres gallery in Wexford.

The DiscoverPrint20 exhibition is in its third year and features 65 of Ireland’s best-known up-and-coming printmakers.

The variety of prints on display includes etching, lithograph, Japanese woodblock and silk-screen printing.

Bríd is a graduate of the Crawford College of Art and Design and is currently a member of Cork printmakers, where she specialises in etching.

Etching is a fine-art process where an image is established on the surface of a metal plate. The plate is then immersed in a bath of acid which cuts lines and textures in the plate.

The resulting grooves, tiny marks and holes are then filled with ink and transferred onto paper.

You can see her work on her Facebook page and also view her three pieces which are exhibiting in the Greenacres gallery on their website at www.greenacres.ie/the-gallery/ art-exhibitions.
