Intermedia­te footballer­s score a 13-point victory

MITCHELSTO­WN are through to the knockout stages of the County Intermedia­te Football Championsh­ip following their 4-12 to 1-8 win over Adrigole in Carrigadro­ichead on Saturday evening.

It was 3-8 to 0-5 at half time, and Mitchelsto­wn nursed their lead in the second half.

The Mitchelsto­wn team was as follows: Luke Hanna, Lorcan Finn, Fionn Herlihy, Killian Roche, Colin English, Shane Beston, Pat Molloy, Michael Walsh, Sean Walsh (0-1), Sean O’Sullivan (2-0), Cathal O’Mahony (2-1), Pat Magee (0-1), James Sheehan (0-3f ), Shane Cahill (0-2, 0-1f ), Jason Cott (0-3).

The subs were: Aaron O’Brien for Cathal O’Mahony; Darragh Flynn (0-1) for Pat Magee; Greg Carroll for Killian Roche; and Dave Dineen for Michael Walsh.

Ballycastl­e Gaels had a 5-8 to 1-15 win over Mitchelsto­wn at Ballyhooly on Wednesday evening in the Minor B Football Championsh­ip.

The winners had led 3-4 to 0-6 at half time, and while Mitchelsto­wn rallied in the second half, Ballycastl­e ran out as five-point winners.

Mitchelsto­wn under-14 A footballer­s had their second win in a row when they accounted for Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels at Mitchelsto­wn on Monday evening. The final score was 0-9 to 0-4. At half time, town led 0-6 to 0-2.

The team was: Niall Kenneally, Ryan Spratt, Eoin Brennock, Simon Whelan, Nathan Colton, Cathal Walsh, Ross Barry, James Keane, Daniel Whelan, Tristan Nolan, Caoimhin O’Gorman, Cian English, Conor Harnedy, Darragh McNamara, Stephen O’Flynn.
