Public meeting on buying a home to be held in Buttevant
A public meeting on home ownership will be held in Buttevant on Monday, January 22.
Fianna Fáil councillors Gearóid Murphy and Pat Hayes have announced that they will be hosting a public meeting on home ownership in Muintir na Tíre Hall, Buttevant at 7.30pm.
The meeting will feature information about housing supports for both first-time buyers and existing owners, such as the First Home Scheme, the Affordable Purchase Scheme and the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.
Senator Mary Fitzpatrick will be on hand to answer questions about these new schemes and there will also be presentations on renewable energy grants from local companies Ashgrove Renewables and Tadhg O’Keeffe & Sons Installers at the public meeting.
Cllr Gearóid Murphy said the meeting on home ownership aims to enable local people find out what grants and supports are available. “We have seen great interest in some of new grants

and supports, such as the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, which grants up to €70,000 towards refurbishing vacant homes and tackles the dual problems of housing and dereliction.
“However, there are also some lesser-known schemes which have recently been introduced, particularly those aimed at first-time buyers. This meeting will be a great opportunity for local people to find out about what is available,” he added.
The meeting has been organised through the office of Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West Michael Moynihan and follows on from two other very successful presentations in the North Cork area, which drew large crowds in Newmarket and Charleville last year.
All are welcome to attend.
