Macroom treehouse makes Airbnb’s top 10 perfect stays
WITH January well underway, Airbnb has released the top 10 wish-list of ‘reset stays’ for the perfect Irish wellness getaway to inspire a year full of potential serene staycations.
The list was made to help put slow living and work-life balance goals into practice for 2024.
It is featured in Airbnb’s ‘off-the-grid’ category and aims to attract those seeking a slowed down pace of life, a proper night’s sleep, and recouping energy levels.
Distinct locations across Ireland made the list with a unique accommodation option in Cork making the cut.
The Ark Ranch Treehouse, located near Macroom, is described as nestled in a tranquil oasis of trees and ferns and acts as the ideal getaway spot to wind down, connect with nature and recharge your batteries.
The cabin can comfortably accommodate two adults in a double bed with a sofa bed available for a third guest. The sleeping area is located in the mezzanine accessible by a ladder but if you don’t feel like climbing stairs guests can use the sofa-bed.
The bathroom features a shower, toilet and hand basin with hot water provided from an 80 litre electric water heater. There is a fully equipped kitchenette with a mini-fridge, electric kettle, toaster, Nespresso pod coffee machine, two ring electric hob and a microwave.
The cabin is heated by a small wood burning stove and the treehouse has been built using locally sourced or reclaimed materials. It’s set on an organic farm where guests can spot donkeys, horses, cats and dogs.
The cabin is the perfect option for anyone looking to switch off from reality for a few days, as the mobile coverage is very poor in the area and Wi-Fi is connected by special request only. It is situated in a remote location with the nearest shop a 15 minute drive away and nearest pub a five minute drive.
The treehouse has a bevy of glowing reviews on Airbnb with many guests raving about the property host Aga.
“Such a fun experience. Aga was so sweet and accommodating. We checked in a little later in the evening but kept in touch with her and everything was perfect. Even baked us some amazing bread which was perfect after our long travel day,” said Tyler And Kelly from Kentucky.

The treehouse is also located less than 5km from the picturesque Lough Allua which offers fishing and kayaking, cycling and hill walking with many official signposted routes.
