Internatio­nal Women’s Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement.

This year a number of events are taking place across Cork city that are celebratin­g the social, economic, cultural and political achievemen­ts of women.

Preview Gala Concert - Finding a Voice 2024

This preview gala concert in Cork School of Music’s Curtis Auditorium, features violinist Patrick Rafter, pianist Gabriela Mayer, cellist Alina Mayer and Madrigal ‘75 for an evening of music that will leave you inspired and entertaine­d. The concert is from 7.30-9.30pm on Thursday, March 7. Tickets €15 – €18.

Internatio­nal Women’s Day Disco by Mockie Ah

Ireland’s leading Drag Haus, Mockie Ah, are celebratin­g Internatio­nal Women’s Day with a club night disco at The Pavilion with an all-female and non-binary DJ lineup in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland.

The night will see five DJ’s playing a stomping mix of disco, house and pop classics until late plus a glittering mix of queens will be on hand to celebrate and dance the night away. The evening kicks off from 9.30pm and any size donation will be accepted.

Down Right Fabulous Make-up Demo

Celebrate Internatio­nal Women’ Day in style with a Charlotte Tilbury makeup demo and entertainm­ent from drag queen Letycha LeSynn in aid of DSCC. It’s at The Address Hotel in Montenotte. Doors open at 7pm. Finger food will be provided and there will be a special Charlotte Tilbury gift for each guest. There will be a selection of pop up shops at the event and a raffle for spot prizes so feel free to bring cash if you wish to purchase.

Tickets are €30 and will raise funds or children with Down Syndrome.
