Millstreet audiences ‘Say Cheese’ to hilarious play
COMMUNITY SCHOOL TRANSITION YEARS BRING THE HOUSE DOWN WITH PRODUCTION OF BERNARD FARRELL’S HILARIOUS PLAY ABOUT IRELAND’S ‘HAPPIEST COUPLE’
The Transition Year pupils of Millstreet Community School took to the stage with their drama presentation “Say Cheese” and met with unanimous approval from capacity attendances.
Over the years, Millstreet Community School was known to stage a series of outstanding productions, meeting with a positive response from school colleagues, parents and the public.
However Covid put a dampener on the proceedings, with no play taking place for the past four years.
“We were just about to stage the 2020 play only for disappointment when Covid arrived, forcing restrictions and a countrywide shut down.
“All credit to the current cast and production team on putting in so many months and detailed preparation”, said School Principal Pól Ó Síodhcháin
Written by Bernard Farrell, the play centred on an unlikely couple Bridie (Anna Murphy) and Valentine Fagan (Christopher Byrnes) being chosen as ‘Ireland’s Happiest Couple’.
It’s set in a hotel suite where nothing can afford to go wrong, but where nothing seems to go right amidst hilarious scenes.
Joint producers Jennifer O’Donoghue and Jolanta Radon worked on the presentation for many months and the fruits of their labour was clearly evident in the presentation.
Cast members include Elizabeth O’Mahony, Anna Murphy, Christopher Byrnes,
Ella Hickey, Seán Murphy, Katie McCaul, Mark Hickey, Luke O’Connor, Muireann Lynch, Katie Sheehan, Oleksii Shemshur and Thomas O’Connor.
Assisting in the set design were Tony Dineen, Brian Kelleher, Shane Breen and Sandra Moynihan with Martin Buckley on sound and lighting.
Also to the fore were Marion Buckley, Bernie McAulliffe, Michelle Connelly, Sam Meyer and John Magee.
