WEIGH-IN

Monday night next March 10th is the final night of the Cullen and District Special Needs Association weigh-in when after ten weeks the final step on to the weighing scales will tell who was or wasn’t such a good boy or girl.

Each week Mairead Reen of Reen’s Pharmacy in Millstreet has acted as facilitator for the group with she and she alone knowing the full truth of how the weigh-loss has progressed over the past ten weeks.

Hannah O’Connor assists with exercises to music. Final night is always a great occasion, a social event full of fun and laughter. Of course everyone likes to win the top prize but most will be extremely happy as long as the figures on the scales are on the minus side which makes everyone a winner. Tea, coffees and all kinds of confectionery, brack and swiss roll will be on the table on the night as the contestants gather for a chat and to share their experiences over the weeks.

Prizes are also on offer for those who generate the most sponsorship which enables the organisers to present some much needed funds to the schools locally who cater for special needs. These include St Joseph’s Foundation, Charleville; Kerry Parents and Friends Rathmore and Castleisland and Cope Foundation Cork, Mallow and Kanturk.

The group officers are Chairperson Breda O’Riordan, Secretary Moira O’Keeffe, Treasurer Kathleen O’Sullivan along with a support team all of whom are extremely grateful to all who help in any way to make this annual fundraiser possible.
