CLUB athletes competed with aplomb at the Munster Indoor championsh­ips. All performed well and got their season off to a great start.

Michael Quirke won his Under 14 hurdles heat and ran an outstandin­g final finishing 4 th. Merveille Kumanzembe in a huge field of athletes at Under 15 60 metres got 2nd in heat, 2nd in semi final and 4th in a pulsating final in 8.77 secs.

Fintan O’Grady garnered Shot Putt 4th securing a place in the All Ireland’s. Killian O’Grady followed suit earning his All Ireland Shot spot. Aoibh McCarthy ran a stellar Under 12 60 metres 2nd in heat join 4th in semi final. She finished 2nd in the 600 metres heat and rounded with super jumps in long jump. Aoife Hutchinson with some excellent throws in Under 13 shot putt missed out on a slot in the final.

She ran a fine race placing 4th in 600 metres heat.

She ran 60 metres hurdles in 12.11 secs. Siun Dingivan gave a strong run in Under 13 girls 600 metres. Beth Hegarty won her Under 13 600 metres heat and her time secured 7 th place which was a great result in a large field. She ran a 12.56 60 metres hurdles. Mark Fleming had a strong debut qualifying for the 60 metres final clocking an impressive 9.17 seconds in the final, finishing 7 th.

He also had a good showing in long jump (3.5 metres). Mattie Kielty as a debutant finishing 5th in 60 metres heat and 5th in his 600 metre heat.He had a good long jump outing 3.5 metres. Thomas Burke landed a bronze medal in long jump (3.95 metres) He won his 60 metres heat in 9.23 secs. He also ran strong in the 600 metres heat finishing 5th.
