Women’s Wellness Event held in Glen Theatre by Banteer Childcare
WOMEN’S Wellness was the key topic at an event hosted by Banteer Community Childcare in the Glen Theatre last week.
Guest speakers on the day included physiotherapist Ailish Mangan who discussed post natal wellness while Practice Nurse Eilish Brosnan outlined the aspects of Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness.
Sinéad McNamara, founder and co director of the National Menopause Summit, rounded out the speakers by talking about the topic of Perimenopause and Menopause.
Banteer Childcare Manager Mary Murphy said:
“We hope that the presentations on the night empowered women, helping them to recognise physical and psychological symptoms, manage brain fog and anxiety and discover management techniques, leading to a better quality of life for all.”
“Our experienced guest speakers delivered comprehensive presentations on the night, delving into the challenges these conditions present to the individual, intimate and familial relationships, the workplace and wider community and how best women may navigate these challenges”
Mary explained that the idea for the Women’s Wellness Event originated from a conversation staff had in the office about what measures they should, as an employer, have in place to support women in the workplace, to ensure women can continue in their chosen careers and manage such conditions effectively.
“Knowledge is key and we wanted to provide accessibility to good information locally and reach a wide cohort of women of varying ages and stages in life. We wanted to ensure our guest speakers were experts in their own fields providing true information in a way that was relatable.”
“It was evident from listening to each speaker on the night that they are passionate about empowering women and they really connected with the audience” Mary said.
Banteer Childcare is a community service catering for children from 6 months old, including preschool and school age. There are currently 230 children registered at the Centre which has been up and running with the past 17 years. Children recently participated in their own St. Patrick’s Day Parade around the grounds of the service.
All preschool groups are rehearsing for their performance of the Gingerbread man facilitated by Centre Stage Mallow and parents are invited in to view their budding actors.
Then it will be ‘full steam ahead’ preparing for the end of year graduation ceremony in June.
