Shanballymore have convincing win over Glanworth

A GOOD showing during the opening half paved the way for Shanballymore to collect the points at stake when they defeated Glanworth.

Aided by the breeze in the opening half the winners gained a foothold on proceedings early on.

Eoin McHugh had the games opening score a point when he picked up possession from a quickly taken free in the fourth minute while further pressure saw Darragh Palmer, Corey Buckley and Eoin O’Regan tag on points as they moved 0-4 to no score in front by the 12th minute.

Glanworth quickly settled. Emmett Sheehan registered their opening score before a good movement involving Diarmuid O’Brien and Aaron Noonan combined well to set up Michael Wade who kicked over from long range.

However, Shanballymore continued to set the running with Jamie Sheedy, Eoin McHugh, Shane Looney, Darragh Palmer, and the Buckley brothers to the fore.

They moved 0-7 to 0-2 in front before Eoin O’Regan set up the inrushing Darragh Palmer who struck for the first of their two goals in the 23rd minute.

In the run up to the break, Jake Buckley, Darragh Palmer and Corey Buckley added points for the winners while Glanworth had a point from a free with Aaron Noonan also adding a point following good work by Darren O’Driscoll as they trailed at the interval by 1-10 to 0-5.

On the changeover any hopes of a Glanworth recovery were dashed early on when good work by Dion Fitzharris and Corey Buckley saw Shane Looney score Shanballymore’s second goal in the 35th minute.

The remaining 25 minutes saw Aaron Noonan (two), Darragh Palmer (two), Corey Buckley, Marc Moloney and Jake Buckley have points for their respective sides as Shanballymore ran out clear victors.
