Deel Rovers take league points after narrow win

Deel Rovers 2-10 Fermoy 2-9

DEEL Rovers recorded their second win in the division when they had a close win over Fermoy.

The game was played in dry conditions. Exchanges were close all through being level on three occasions. The home side had early points by Kieran O’Flynn and Brian Murphy. Daniel O’Flynn opened Fermoy’s tally in the seventh minute.

Good play by Rory Villiers led to a goal by Kieran O’Flynn. Fermoy replied with a Sean Power point. Eoin Dillon and Jack Murray exchanged a point.

Fermoy had their goal by Jack Murray, they followed with two points as the sides were level at the break 1-5 each.

On the resumption Seán Power placed John Ring for a Fermoy goal. The Milford side replied with three points in succession by Kieran O’Flynn, Michael O’Flynn and Eoin Dillon (free) as they were level 2-5 to 1-8 by the 39th minute.

Eoin Dillon had a good goal-bound effort denied by the woodwork. Daniel O’Flynn edged Fermoy ahead following a four man attack. Ronan O’Brien with a 45th minute point opened up a two point lead.

Deel Rovers hit the front in the 5lst minute when Kieran O’Flynn worked well for Eoin Dillon who netted. Brian Murphy and Ronan O’Callaghan exchanged late points with Deel Rovers holding out for a vital win.

Best for the winners Pat Watson, Rory Villiers, Michael O’Flynn, Brian Murphy, Kieran O’Flynn and Eoin Dillon.

For Fermoy Niall Cloney, David Conran, Sean Power Jack Murray, Ronan O’Brien and Ronan O’Callaghan did well.
