A draw emerged as a fair outcome between Macroom and Rockchapel in a marvellous tussle in Macroom. At the end of the hour when both sides had given everything, it would have been rough justice if either had come away empty handed.

Premier IFC later in the summer, this was a competitiv­e clash, Macroom looking good during the latter stages only for Rockchapel to refuse to wilt and late points ensured a stalemate.

Rockchapel began on a promising note, benefiting from points by Cormac and Jack Curtin. Steadily Macroom raised their performanc­e through the work rate generated by Ruairí Buckley, Mark Corrigan, Tony Dineen and Pa Lucey.

And with Alan Quinn ever so accurate in front of the uprights, that allowed Macroom hold a narrow 0-6 to 0-5 advantage at the interval. Though a Pat Curtin point for Rockchapel squared up the contest on the restart, Macroom regained the upperhand once Quinn and Lucey bisected the uprights.

Rockchapel demonstrat­ed a sense of purpose, driven on by Eamon O’Callaghan, Shane Curtin. Euan Murphy and Conor Kepple.

A trio of points from Seamus Hickey, Curtin and Nicholas Linehan switched the lead 0-9 to 0-8 in favour of Rockchapel. With the action swaying back and forth, Macroom answered, points by Quinn, Dineen and Mark Hunt helped secure the advantage entering the latter stages.

Rockchapel responded positively, late points from Cormac Curtin and Jimmy McAulliffe secured a deserved draw. The next installmen­t between the sides, a championsh­ip clash on Sunday, July 28 is confirmed for Dromtariff­e.
