Impressive win for Ballyclough

BALLYCLOUGH with goals at vital stages had a well merited win over Kilshannig in the Cavanagh’s Fermoy Division 1 FL at Glantane on Tuesday evening.
Exchanges were close early on with Diarmuid O’Sullivan and Alan O’Connell having points for the home side. Damian Buckley and Aaron Finnegan had them level 0-2 each after eight minutes. They were also level 0-3 each.
Jack O’Shea pointed a free for Ballyclough with Aaron Finnegan making 0-5 to 0-4. In the closing moments Timmy Hennessy placed Eoin Kelleher for a goal that had Ballyclough 1-6 to 0-5 ahead at the interval.
On the resumption Colm Geary was denied a good goal scoring chance by Eoin Finnegan. Kilshannig enjoyed their best spell. Diarmuid O’Sullivan pointed.
David Kearney made some very good saves. Points by Seán O’Connell and Dermot Twomey 1-6 to 0-8 after 38 minutes. Aaron Finnegan goaled for Ballyclough. Dermot Twomey and James O’Hanlon replied with points.
Shane Buckley did very well in midfield for Ballyclough. Some good points by Damian Buckley and a 47th minute goal edged the winners 3-10 to 0-11 ahead.
Kilshannig had points by Anthony Jenks, Paddy Walsh, Dermot Twomey and Diarmuid O’Sullivan. Late points by Damian Buckley (free) and Timmy Hennessy gave Ballyclough a five-point win.
