BESTSELLING author Cecelia Ahern and her mother, Miriam, were in tears as they watched the latest movie adaptation of one of her bestselling novels.

Following the massive success of the film version of her debut novel PS, Love I You, Hollywood has turned its attention to her follow-up novel, Where Rainbows End.

The film, to be released this autumn under the book’s US title, Love, Rosie, features a glamorous cast including Lily Collins in the lead role, Suki Waterhouse and Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin.

The film follows two young best friends, Alex and Rosie, who are separated when Alex and his family move to America, before reuniting.

This week, Cecelia tweeted: ‘Okay... deep breaths. I’ve just finished watching Love, Rosie. Cried most of the way through. Amazing. Incredible.’

The following night, she watched the movie with her mother, Miriam, the ex-wife of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, to whom the book is dedicated.

‘I wrote Love, Rosie novel when I was 22 & dedicated it to my mom - we watched it together tonight, both sobbing. Ah, I’m too soppy,’ she told fans on Twitter. Embarrassingly, the mother and daughter had to sit through a series of sex scenes as they watched the film together. The film, which was partially shot in Ireland, shows Collins and Claflin both trying awkwardly to lose their virginity.

Movie fans have been asked to upload their most ‘awkward moment’ on Twitter to help promote the movie.

The film represents the latest success story for the 31-yearold author who has so far sold 22 million books, as well as writing the TV series Samantha Who and two made-for-TV movies on German station ZDF, which attracted over six million viewers.

The Irish Mail On Sunday previously revealed that Cecelia has made €18m on sales of PS, I Love You alone since its release 10 years ago.
