Eurovision star Kasey has no time for romance in Denmark

IRISH Eurovision hopeful Kasey Smith is being joined by her boyfriend in Copenhagen as she gears up for the contest – but there’ll be no time for romance.

The singer’s boyfriend will fly into the Danish city early next week to cheer her on in her efforts to win the annual song contest.

But any chance of some good-luck nookie has been dismissed by the ex-Wonderland singer, who says she will be going to bed early and alone.

In fact, Kasey says he will spend more time with his head in college books than under the covers.

Kasey told the Irish Mail on Sunday: ‘I have around 20 friends and family coming over. Obviously, they can’t all get tickets for the show. But there is a square and they are going to go there and watch it on a big screen and have a big party. Obviously I won’t be there partying with them but I won’t let them down.

‘My boyfriend is coming over two days before but I told him that he is going to have to entertain himself because I won’t be able to be there and I will be in bed early. He is studying for exams at the minute so he is going to stay in with his books. I don’t even like to sing in front of him. I get nervous when I do.’

It will be a manic week for Kasey and her Irish dance troupe Can-linn. They will go through 10 gruelling dress rehearsals as well as a media blitz as they attempt to garner support.

She will be flying the flag for Irish designers, wearing a bespoke Kathy de Stafford black gown with Swarovski crystal patterns.

The look will be topped off with a stunning gold neckpiece made especially for her by Oliver Doherty. He’s the same designer from the Inishowen Peninsula that Laura Whitmore chose for the Iftas.

Kasey will be hoping her showstopping outfit will turn heads at the dress rehearsals as one of them will be filmed and sent to the jury, and counts for 50% of the vote.

The bookies aren’t giving the Kasey much of a chance, placing her as a 40/1 outsider. Armenia’s Aram MP3’s song Not Alone is favourite for the crown at 6/4.
