Cable car would not measure up

-

The proposal for a cable car over the Liffey (MoS, May 4) is compared with the Eiffel Tower, an icon of Paris famed throughout the world. Someone is codding himself a bit here.

I suppose the cable car would be better than nothing but we can be a horribly dull lot with a po-faced approach to attracting tourists. Cable cars are ten-a-penny on the Continent.

It would be better to put the bankers and regulators in stocks on O’Connell Bridge to be pelted with rotten eggs and tomatoes. People would pay willingly for that.

Or perhaps we could get our dodgy developers to build an upside down pyramid in the Phoenix Park.
