It’s gender-based double standards

-

A candidate for election to Fingal County Council (Mary Martin, Independent, Castleknock) has the headline ‘C’mon na mBan! Votes for Women’ on her posters.

Aside from the fact that the wording suggests that she is not aware that women have had the vote for some years, it appears to suggest that she is seeking a vote from women only and because she is a woman, not because of any special talent.

How would women react if a male candidate had a poster reading something on the lines of: ‘Come on boys, vote for a man’?
