Right to education

I read ‘I escaped Beast of Boko Haram’ (MoS, May 11). Getting an education is difficult for girls in many parts of the world. We have so much corruption here in Ireland but we can be thankful that everyone in our country has the right to an education.

I remember the day when education was the privilege of the wealthy and the poorer classes were not to even think about getting a university education.

Also back in my young days I often heard people, when speaking about young girls, say why should they get educated? Sure, they are only going to get married.

Thankfully, this attitude is gone now but I so wish I had got an education when I was young.
