There’s hope for us
FOR all the negativity that the CRC and Rehab scandals generated, we remain at heart a deeply charitable nation. For every overpaid chief executive, there is somebody, somewhere, working away quietly for no reward and, quite often, no recognition. People like Fran O’Brien, who has written eight books and given the entire proceeds – almost a quarter of a million euro – to charity. There could be no more uplifting or heartwarming reminder of the fundamental decency of the Irish people.
