Victorian gem in Dublin 8 has hidden depths

22 Camden Row, Dublin 8

-

This single-fronted two-storey Victorian villastyle house was renovated by architect Mark Guard in the mid1990s, transforming a series of smaller rooms into a contemporary living space.

It’s a two-storey home and much larger inside than you might think. The 120sq.m/1,292sq.ft of space is set in two bedrooms at hall level with a contemporary bathroom and shower room, and open-plan kitchen, dining and living space downstairs, all of which opens out to a beautiful patio garden at the back.

The front door with fanlight opens into the bright hall with pale maple floor. This clean look makes the old shuttered windows and cornice work stand out.

The two bedrooms are both a good size with original fireplaces. The front bedroom has a painted floor with shutters, while the room at the back has a maple floor. Beside them is a full bathroom with a separate circular shower and a concealed vanity cupboard.

The garden level is open plan, but plain sliding doors can divide the room if needed, while the kitchen is to the front and fitted with high quality appliances.

The dining room beside it has a sash window with shutters and opens up to a sunroom with French doors to the garden. There is also a study and second bathroom.

The property is just off Heytesbury Street, and has on-street permit parking.
