Apology: Kieran Coughlan

ON 7 December, we published an article on the conviction of former Deputy Ned O’Keeffe for using forged invoices to claim expenses headed: “Timeline of how we exposed fraud”.

This article was illustrated with an image of an earlier report headed ‘Dáil Sentinel kills off complaint’ which referred to former Clerk of the Dáil, Kieran Coughlan. This article had been the subject of a successful complaint by Mr Coughlan to the Press Ombudsman, who found that the newspaper had breached the newspapers’ Code of Practice.

We accept that we should not have reproduced this article and apologise to Mr Coughlan for having done so.
