Cavan prevail despite Kingston double

- By Daragh Ó Conchúir

DONIE KINGSTON scored two goals in the first half but it was Cavan’s superior power that prevailed, giving them three out of a possible four points, while consigning Laois to a second straight defeat.

Kingston struck first in the fourth minute and then again in spectacular fashion four minutes before half time but Laois only managed to put another three points to that tally in the opening period.

By contrast, Cavan had nine, with seven of those coming in a row. The excellent Niall McDermott had four of those and it was level at the break, 23 to 0-9. Laois began the second half impressively with points from a Kingston free and Ross Munnelly but Cavan’s pace from deep continued to cause problems and they imposed themselves once more.
