Coming Up For Air

-

Kodaline (B-unique/RCA)

I If Kodaline are referencing George O Orwell’s novel in the title, then that book’s theme of harking back to better days might be apt. Coming Up For Air begins brightly with Honest, but becomes a patchwork of average workouts and worryingly dull efforts, chiefly Human Again, The One and Caught In The Middle. Respite is offered by the Radiohead-lite of Lost, Better and the Killers-indebted Ready. A 16-song, 64-minute set is generous but Kodaline can’t sustain the quality. Hopefully this is a temporary setback.
