IT’S been described as Come Dine With Me meets Through The Keyhole. Now the Irish Mail on Sunday can reveal that Who’s Doing The Dishes, which is presented by Brian McFadden, will be commissioned for a second series. The game show – in which a mystery celebrity prepares a meal for four members of the public who must guess their chef’s identity if they are to avoid doing the washing up – first aired on ITV last year, with the former Westlife singer at the helm. It was hailed as ‘the best daytime TV in years’ and became a ratings hit.

McFadden, who served as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent, proved an affable and capable presenter. His UK agent would not comment on McFadden’s role in the new series but the Irish Mail on Sunday has learned that he so impressed ITV bosses that he will be back at the helm of the show when it returns.

An ITV spokeswoman said: ‘Viewers loved the last series so we have plans in the pipeline for another later this year.’

For the inaugural series, which aired last year, McFadden kicked events off by inviting Westlife manager Louis Walsh to take part.

The TV cameras rolled as Walsh prepared a meal with dishes that would hint at his identity. While the Mayo man slaved over a hot stove, the four contestants discreetly pored over Walsh’s Dublin home, competing for a cash prize of £500.

Walsh, however, failed to win praise for his culinary efforts. The guests criticised his food and were left unimpressed with his mini fish and chips starter. At the time, Walsh said he didn’t care. ‘I have a thick skin and that is why I did it,’ Walsh said. ‘I would have been more surprised if they liked it. Besides, it is a much better TV show because I can’t cook.’

McFadden and his wife Vogue Williams divide their time between Ireland and the UK. Vogue is currently appearing on ITV on Bear Grylls – Mission Survive which sees adventurer Grylls take eight celebrities into the Central American jungle on a 12-day survival trial.
