ACTOR Jack Reynor is being sued for more than $1m after a car he was driving in Hollywood is said to have struck two women on a pedestrian crossing, the Irish Mail on Sunday can exclusively reveal.

And actress Britt Robertson, who was starring alongside Reynor in Delivery Man at the time of the incident in November 2012, is also being sued in the case that is scheduled for tomorrow in an LA courtroom.

The What Richard Did star is accused of negligence causing the two women serious injury. Loren DeHanes and Julie Shepard originally filed their claim last year and asked for damages in excess of $25,000. But they are now claiming a minimum of $1m and other damages after Reynor failed to file a defence within one month of the incident.

It is alleged in court papers that DeHanes and Shepherd were flung into the air and on to the hood of the vehicle in the incident. Both are said to have been seri- ously injured, one suffering head trauma, the other knee and back injuries.

It is understood, however, that Mr Reynor will fight the $1m claims vigorously.

Glamorous actress Britt, or Brittany, Robertson, and her company, Freedom Artists, are also named as defendants in the action. Freedom Artists did respond within the 30 days set down by law, denying negligence and any liability.

Legal proceedings are due to get under way tomorrow and the trial is being pencilled in for the end of the month.

Jack Reynor found fame after he played the lead role in What Richard Did, a film about a group of privileged South Dublin teenagers and an act of violence that has devastating consequences on his rugby-playing school community.

It was largely based on the infamous killing of Brian Murphy at Club Anabel in 2000. He then got his big break after appearing in the latest of the hugely successful Transformers franchise, released in 2014.

The Booterstown boy is currently engaged to Limerick model Madeline Mulqueen after he popped the question to her last year.

The couple live in LA and Dublin, and Madeline accompanied him on his worldwide tour to promote the Transformers movie. They were just dating a year when Reynor proposed in Hong Kong.

Reynor was in Dublin this weekend where he appeared on The Late Late Show as part of a promotional tour for his new film, Glassland. He did not respond to questions put to him through his representatives this weekend. Britt Robertson also declined to respond.
