Dear Melissa,

1 Thank you so much for your lovely letter I received today, much appreciated! It is great to hear from people who are supporting my innocence, I do get letters & cards from people but very few leave their address to write back, and I write back to very few as I am cautious of journalists, etc, you understand.

I would be delighted to penpal with you, you sound like an interesting person to get to know. People are sometimes hesitant to get involved in case the media spot-light descends upon them, but it seems to have faded (for now!). And a lot of it is self-inflicted, so dont be worried.

The post is quite slow, it takes about a week for mail to reach me, and about two weeks for my mail to reach you, so don’t think I am doing that on purpose! :)

I will add your number to my list, but will wait to hear back from you to see if you don’t mind me ringing after a while, I get 1, 6 minute phonecall a day and all letters and phonecalls are monitored, only face to face visits are private, you understand, so I am a bit limited, but here we are! Part of the package, I guess.

Yeah, the media certainly gave me a good going over, a lot of the tabloid junk just isn’t true at all, especially since my conviction, and it got more & more bizarre, recent reports are the most untrue, but I will get to those after my appeal, cant wait to tell my side of the story, i.e. the truth! I have learned to be patient in here, if anything good is to come of it.

There is a lot going on, a seven day high court challenge before Christmas, two circuit court cases, divorce, trying to see my kids, and of course, my appeal, sometime after April next year, but I am waiting to receive my computer, which has all the important things loaded, to get stuck in, and in the meantime, studying art, music, working on the prison magazine, building models, and lots of reading, lots of free time to write to people so let me know if the letters are

2 too long! Lol! I get more visits from solicitors (3) and

barristers (4) than I get from my parents & siblings, but get one most weeks so I cannot complain, there are alot of my old friends keeping a cautious distance so new ones are especially welcome!!! :) 3 So you are half English, half Spanish? It must be easy for you to get a tan! My mum was born in England (Portsmouth) and I have a grandfather in Macclesfield I have never met. I have been to Madrid, crashed a car (driven from Portugal) there, and a brush with the Madrid police, thank God I had insurance, it wasn’t compulsory! So do you speak Spanish or visit any relatives there?

You wrote in your letter that you like the cinema, I love the cinema, IMDB was one of my most visited sites, and I am in here two years now (hopefully either 2 or 6 months left!) and there are movies appearing on TV that were only reaching the cinema when I was arrested, and the whole nightmare began. At least we have Film 4 which is decent, “Spring Breakers” last night! Awesome !!

You have a dog called Sonny, I always had dogs (collies) growing up, loved them, and my mum keeps two Bichon Frise, Q.T. & Yoda. There are a lot of ‘interests & hobbies’ I had before prison, most of which I cannot pursue in here, but I do play my bass guitar alot. Maybe if I can’t rejoin architecture, it could be my new job! Ha Ha Ha! As Homer Simpson (my hero) once said, “All I ever wanted was to be a famous musician, and now there is a small chance, it mightn’t happen!” Brilliant! Well, at least I got the ‘famous’ bit right,

but for all the wrong reasons! My day will come.

So you are 27, that’s four years older than my eldest son, so, no, I’m not quite old enough to be your dad, but it’s not

5 far off it. And you are 5’6”, so I am taller than you (not 5’5” as reported) and you can see my actual height in the prison mugshot that ‘leaked’ into the same newspaper that misreported (everything). The photo says Im 1.77m so Im not sure what that is in feet and inches, but its not 5’5”! So a little bit about me you didn’t read about, I have long hair now, I get 6 called ‘Jonathan Ross’ when its down, and ‘Stephen Segal’ when its tied back, I dont know which is worse really, will cut it again one day, I have green eyes, I smile a lot (called

7

‘smiler’ in school) and I am left handed, I am also a vegetarian. I got letters from a nice lady in Sligo who convinced me it was the way to go, so I tried it, liked it, and losing weight each week, so cant be bad! I am not a monster, 8 I am kind, I like a good laugh and I have a wicked sense of

humour, you have to have one to survive what Ive been through! I am innocent, and one day I will be free. So, stay in touch, would love you to write to me as much as you can, 9 maybe visit, I won’t bite (btw, Im not a vampire either!)

:) 10 Yours, Graham X

P.S. There is more to the Dr. Cassidy saga, watch this space!
