It’s all hugely embarrassing, says Laura Whitmore, because she is in a relationship with rocker Rory Williams
THE attention TV presenter Laura Whitmore got from Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio obviously did not amuse her rockstar boyfriend, Rory Williams.
Following the 69th British Academy Film Awards ceremony in London last week, Irish beauty Ms Whitmore was whisked off to party in Leo’s hotel room where she stayed until the early hours.
By amazing coincidence, Sunset Sons singer Williams posted a spoof picture of himself being nuzzled by DiCaprio’s Titanic character Jack Dawson days before the Hollywood star swooped on his girlfriend on Valentine’s night.
‘Okay so, who did this!!!’ the rocker said in a caption attached to the photograph which contained the hashtags @ titanic and @leonardodicaprio.
Williams clearly did not find the coincidence amusing.
Faced with a barrage of questions on her late night date all week, Laura broke her silence to the Irish Mail on Sunday this week: ‘I promise I didn’t stay in Leo’s room all night!’ she said.
‘All this attention has not been easy because I am going out with someone,’ the 30-year-old Bray beauty said.
During an intimate conversation at the Bafta after-party, the MTV presenter and the actor were so close that Ms Whitmore was seen whispering in DiCaprio’s ear and staring at him intently as they talked.
Following the after-party bash held by producer Harvey Weinstein, DiCaprio took Ms Whitmore and some friends to his suite in the Rosewood Hotel in Holborn, central London.
She was reportedly seen leaving the hotel at 5am, giving the Bafta winning actor a brief respite before he hit the town again on Monday to party at the trendy Chiltern Firehouse restaurant with 24-yearold lingerie model Roxy Horner.
Ms Horner was later seen leaving with DiCaprio for a private celebration with friends at his hotel.
It must have been a dream come true for Ms Horner – a former girlfriend of The Only Way Is Essex star Joey Essex – who posted a picture of DiCaprio on Twitter in 2012, telling followers that he was ‘the definition of sexy’.
Not to be outdone, Laura, too, seems to have had her eye on Leo for some time.
In January she posted a photo of the heartthrob in the movie Romeo & Juliet to her Instagram account and noted his handsome looks.
‘Walking behind a fish tank makes you immediately 100 times fitter,’ she wrote in a caption attached to the photo which showed Romeo, played by DiCaprio, looking through a fishtank towards Juliet, played by Claire Danes.
Leo was on Laura’s mind again on February 1 when she tweeted: ‘So just watched #TheRevenant ... jaysus that Leo fella had an awful time. He just couldn’t seem to catch a break.’
Despite interest in the playboy actor’s private life, DiCaprio really has eyes for only one woman – his mother.
Having thanked his costars after winning the Best Actor award at the Baftas he thanked his 73-year-old mother Irmelin Inden-birken. ‘Lastly, there’s one person I have to thank,’ he said. ‘I would not be standing up here if it wasn’t for this person. I didn’t grow up in a life of privilege. I grew up in a very rough neighbourhood in east Los Angeles.
‘This woman drove me three hours a day to a different school to show me a different opportunity.
‘It’s her birthday today. Mom, happy birthday. I love you very much.’
He has retold his mother’s background in several interviews in the past. The daughter of a Russian refugee, Helene Smirnoff, and a German coalminer, Wilhelm Indenbirken, Irmelin was born in a German air raid shelter in 1943.
‘When you see a picture of my mother, it’s heart-breaking. It brings tears to my eyes, knowing what she’s been through in her life.
‘I have a picture of her – her first photograph – with this tiny little skirt and she’s emaciated. She had a belly full of worms.’
