Stars to tour as Boyzlife… but they’re not the f irst

-

BOYZONE’S Keith Duffy and former Westlife crooner Brian McFadden have joined forces and will be hitting the road in October under the name Boyzlife.

The blurb on the official website reads: ‘The nationwide tour, in partnership with Hilton Hotels & Resorts, will give fans the opportunity to hear what really went on behind the headlines during their meteoric rise to fame, with an intimate evening of stories, laughter and music.’

But the boyz, pictured, could unintentionally become a tribute act to their own tribute act.

The Diary has noticed that there is already a band called Boyzlife who are a tribute act to Boyzone and Westlife.

So a real battle of the bands could ensue. It appears that Brian McFad- den’s company, BMF Records, trademarked the name Boyzlife last month, so they own the name.

The Diary contacted the manager of the tribute band to ask how the ‘boyz’ felt about the other two ‘boyz’ taking the name his band had been using for years but he declined to comment. So it looks like Brian and Keith will effectively be paying tribute to their own boyband background on their hotel tour. And while both members of the new Boyzlife are Dubliners no dates have been announced in Dublin – or anywhere else in Ireland for that matter – with the boyz concentrating solely on the UK.

No surprise really when you consider that Brian McFadden struggled to sell tickets for his show in Whelan’s when he recently played in the capital.
