GARDAÍ are investigating an alleged paedophile ring in Dublin after a woman claimed she gave birth to twins as a result of rape.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, alleged she was raped by a relative – who was a convicted paedophile – as well as by five other men and a woman. As a result of the alleged rapes, the woman claimed she became pregnant when she was 12 years old and gave birth to two boys in a relative’s home.

The female, who is now an adult, said the first child survived while the second child was stillborn.

She claimed she was forced to put the dead baby in a shoebox and place it in the kitchen bin, which was then put out for the weekly rubbish collection.

However, the owner of the house where the alleged birth took place has strongly denied the claims.

‘I’ve told the cops to dig up my garden. This never happened,’ he said.

The alleged victim believes her surviving child has been illegally registered and is living somewhere in Dublin.

The woman’s story echoes that of the Dalkey ‘ House of Horrors’ case, which involved Cynthia Owen who gave birth to a baby girl when she was a child.

The baby was stabbed to death and dumped in a laneway. No one has ever been charged in relation to that case.

Speaking to the Irish Mail on Sunday, the woman said she reported the matter to gardaí on a number of occasions and has written to the Justice Minister, the Garda Commissioner and Tusla child and family agency.

She has been to the sexual assault unit and was assessed by a gynaecologist to demonstrate to gardaí that she gave birth when she was a child. She said: ‘I was raped first by a relative in his house. It was an open secret. You just got raped in the shed or upstairs or you would be assaulted behind the couch.

‘He was convicted of abusing some of his children and I wasn’t allowed to go to that house any more.

‘Then that progressed to three other men known to me who began to rape me. Then another man from the area and his wife were involved. They are all still alive.’

She also claims to have been raped by another neighbour.

‘My mother worked away a lot, so she never knew about this until I told her two years ago.

‘I was raped every day up until I was around 15. When I fell pregnant they all threatened to kill me.

‘Two women were there when I gave birth but they refused to talk to the gardaí.

‘I lived in constant pain. The pain of sitting on the wooden chairs in school; I used to have to sit on my side. One of the men used to cut me. He is evil – I believe he raped one of his own children.

‘I’d be raped upstairs before school and I would go downstairs, eat my cereal and go. I thought this happened to everyone.

‘I was very outgoing and so bubbly. I was in everyone’s house. I didn’t want to go home and I would be out all day. No one would have known a thing.’

However, despite her outgoing exterior, the woman claims to have suffered from anorexia, self-harm and suicidal behaviour ‘all of my life’.

‘I want to find my son and be reunited with him,’ she said. ‘I don’t know if my other son ended up in the bin trucks or if he is buried in my relative’s garden but I would love the garden to be dug up.’

The houses where the alleged rape took place are all within a 3km radius of each other.

The woman made a statement to gardaí on Thursday and has given the MoS a letter from a gynaecologist who examined her in a bid to prove her pregnancy.

In the letter dated January 22, 2016, a gynaecologist wrote: ‘I would not dispute the fact that she could have been pregnant previously.’

The MoS called to the house of one of the accused men on Thursday and put the accusations to him. He said there was ‘no truth whatsoever’ to the woman’s claims.

‘She said the baby was never buried and it went in the bin. I told the cops, “Dig up the garden.” They can blow up my house for all I care.

‘She was never in this house. I can prove where I was and the woman who was allegedly here with her daughter to help her give birth wasn’t even in the country.

‘I haven’t been arrested – I gave a voluntary statement.

‘Have I ever touched her? No. Has she been abused? Yes, she has. She was abused by a girl. We never had a date of birth for these alleged babies,’ he continued.

‘Originally there was one child, now it’s two. Her allegations are falling apart and here is no proof whatsoever because it never happened. I have nothing to hide. We got wind of it last summer and she was pointing the finger at us. We contacted a solicitor and he contacted the gardaí and they spoke to us,’ he said.

‘We want this to go to court because we have nothing to hide.

‘[A relative] was a convicted paedophile. He is dead. That all came out and we had no contact with him after that,’ he said.
