Red Hands turn it on
SEáN CAVANAGH and Aidan McCrory smashed a huge hole in Derry’s promotion hopes with the goals that helped Tyrone to a comfortable win at Healy Park last night.
Ronan O’Neill put over four frees in the opening period at the end of which the hosts held a 0-10 to 0-6 interval lead.
Richie Donnelly added to Tyrone’s advantage on the restart.
Chrissy Bradley came off the bench to halt the rot for Derry but the Red Hands responded with O’Nell’s first point from play.
Mickey Harte’s men struck a decisive blow on 50 minutes when Tiernan McCann slipped a pass to Seán Cavanagh who rifled his shot to the top corner of the net.
Derry ended with 14 men after full-back Chrissy
McKaigue picked up a second booking, and corner back Aidan McCrory finished them off with a second goal.
