YUMMY MEALS THAT BURN FAT

LOSE 7LB IN JUST 7 DAYS

CHOCOLATE & WINE ALLOWED!

WOULD you like to lose 7lb in seven days – while still eating chocolate and without hitting the gym hard? And even better, would you like to keep the weight off, while still enjoying treats like red wine?

We know it sounds too good to be true. But extensive scientific research and our own rigorous trial have shown that our radical, yet easy, Sirtfood Diet really does work.

Just ask four-times Olympic gold medal winning sailor Ben Ainslie, former world heavyweight boxing champion David Haye, plus model Jodie Kidd and TV chef Lorraine Pascale.

They all swear by the Sirtfood Diet – which features in a bestselling diet book of the same name – and the benefits it has brought to their health, performance and appearance.

Now, exclusively in today’s Irish Mail on Sunday, we reveal the secrets of this new way of eating, which has been scientifically proven to have a magical effect on your waistline, health and wellbeing.

Although they may sound obscure, sirtfoods are simply a powerful group of foods that many of us have in our kitchen cupboards, including extra virgin olive oil, red onions, parsley, chilli, kale, strawberries, walnuts, capers, tofu, cocoa, green tea and even coffee.

They are so rich in certain special compounds and polyphenols (micronutrients) that, when we consume them, they activate the same ‘skinny genes’ – known as sirtuins – in our bodies as fasting diets do, but without the hunger and fatigue of extreme calorie-cutting.

Of course, there are countless popular diets that make similar promises of speedy weight loss, but fewer than 1% of the millions of people who follow them this year will achieve permanent weight loss.

The Sirtfood Diet is different – even the experts say so. A landmark study in 2003

discovered that sirtfoods have the power to mimic calorie restriction, tricking your body into thinking it is fasting, which triggers a raft of positive changes.

Fat storage is switched off, fat burning is stimulated and the body stops its normal growth processes of cell repair and rejuvenation to go into ‘survival’ mode. The result is weight loss and improved resistance to disease. Small wonder that interest in sirtfoods has reached fever pitch. During our own strict seven-day trial, 39 participants (21 women, 18 men) – 15 of them overweight, two obese and 22 with normal BMI – followed the Sirtfood Diet. For the first three days, they consumed 1,000 calories per day – three green juices and one meal, all rich in sirtfoods – a mild fast to encourage the body to start clearing old debris out of cells (a process known as autophagy), and kickstart fat burning.

For the final four days, calories increased to 1,500 per day with two juices and two meals.

We recorded everything from their weight to body fat percent- age, lean muscle mass and the sugar (glucose) and fats (like triglycerides and cholesterol) in their blood. Astonishingly, each person lost an average of 7lb (3.2kg) and reduced body fat, without any increase in their activity levels.

Remarkably, they also gained an average of 2lb of lean muscle mass. On most diets, people LOSE muscle, yet the more lean muscle we have, the more energy we burn, even when resting. Scientific research has shown that a sirtuin gene known as Sirt-1 – if activated – protects the muscle from breaking down and actually works to increase our lean muscle mass by boosting the ‘satellite cells’ in the body which encourage muscle growth and repair.

Now, we want to share the Sirtfood Diet with you in two simple phases. The first is a seven-day plan to turn your body into a fat-burning furnace. Just imagine, seven days from now, you will be feeling lighter, brighter and healthier...
