It’s baby No. 5 for radio star Moncrieff

BROADCASTER Sean Moncrieff has had a baby with his producer partner, the Irish Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The Newstalk host, 54, became a father in January to baby Cora with his partner Caroline Clarke. The birth was registered recently at the General Registry Office and not only is Moncrieff listed as the proud father, he also gave her his last name. The beautiful bouncing baby is registered as Cora Frances Moncrieff.

The new couple have been dating for some time – and Ms Clarke has been sharing their big news on social media in recent months, proudly showing off her bump.

Ms Clarke is the separated wife of travel writer and broadcaster Fionn Davenport – who is a familiar voice to Newstalk and RTÉ radio listeners.

Moncrieff himself is separated, and has previously spoken about how he lives near his ex wife Bridget with whom he has four children, one boy and three girls.

Proud father Moncrieff is renowned for regularly talking about his children – and the perspective they give him – on his popular daytime radio show which draws in 120,000 daily listeners. In an interview in 2013 the radio presenter said that a picture of his children is ‘worth a thousand words’.

‘A photo of my two youngest daughters when they were two and three. They are naked and on a trampoline spraying water at each other. It’s a beautiful picture and it’ll also come in handy for humiliating them in later life,’ he said.

When he was doing promotional interviews for his now defunct TV3 gameshow Crossfire he told the Irish Times that he thinks people ‘parent the s*** out of our children’.

‘The word “parenting” didn’t exist when I was a child. Now we parent the s*** out of our children. I sometimes wonder if that does more harm than good. I’ve a son of 22 who’s finishing college, and he’s still living at home. I don’t want to do the “when I was your age thing”, but I’d have been out of the home when I was 16.’

In 2014, he revealed that he helped his teenage daughter publish her first book and market it on CreateSpace, a selfpublishing site for emerging authors. Back in 2003 he even joked about his virility when he said ‘due to the fact that my wife finds me irresistible, I have four children’.

Now the ‘irresistible’ radio host has five children with the arrival of baby Cora.

The name Cora has made a comeback in recent years as part of a trend towards more traditional names from a century ago. The name has seen a surge in popularity thanks to Lady Cora Crawley from Downton Abbey.
