DR Eva Orsmond has revealed that her Dancing With The Stars partner Seán Smullen is ‘a little bit of a flirt,’ adding it is ‘great for a woman of my age to have a little bit of that young energy’.

The outspoken weight loss guru has told The Irish Mail on Sunday that her routines for the RTÉ show with 21-year-old Seán have helped her get through her recent marriage break-up.

Dr Orsmond, 50, along with the other celebrity hoofers, will take to the floor tonight for the first elimination dance-off.

Last September, she announced that her 21-year marriage with her ex-husband Wyatt was over.

Since then, she has moved out of the family home and says that her participation in Dancing With The Stars has given her a real focus on ‘me time’.

In an interview this week in our TV Week magazine, Dr Orsmond said: ‘The show has been fantastic to help with the breakup.

‘It keeps me really busy. Of course you then ask yourself what is going to happen when the show is over and then suddenly there is that empty space that comes into the life.’

Dr Orsmond has been paired with much younger dancer Seán Smullen and is delighted with him. She said: ‘The training with Seán has been incredible.

‘He is extremely patient. He jokes all the time and he starts every sentence with: “I have told you a million times already.”’

And while their stars are aligned on the dance floor, she laughed of any suggestion of an attraction or the deadly ‘Strictly curse’ that saw love blossom between performers on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

‘It is very tactile and intimate,’ she said of their dance routines. ‘This week we are doing the foxtrot where you are glued into each other. He (Seán) is a really innocent and just really good with me and a little bit of a flirt, which is great for a woman of my age to have a little bit of that young energy but he is extremely mannerly and nice to be with.’

Dr Orsmond is hoping that she will survive tonight’s elimination and is not the first celebrity to get voted off the show.

‘I would have a problem being kicked out tonight,’ she said. ‘I would find that really difficult.

‘I don’t mind any criticism, just don’t kick me out because I am really enjoying the experience and I would like to keep getting these lessons from Seán and improving.’
