HUGHIE Maughan is going ‘au naturel’ on tonight’s Dancing With The Stars – apart from the lip fillers, sunbed tan and teeth whitening, that is.
The Irish Mail on Sunday has learned that following on from last week’s tan drama, Mr Maughan has decided to forego all fake tan and let his dance moves be the focus.
Last week, Mr Maughan was caked in multiple layers of St Tropez tan, which helped him to steal the show for all the wrong reasons. While the other contestants and the show’s hosts, Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram, used Bellamantia tan lotion, which is the RTÉ show’s official tan brand, Mr Maughan decided to go all tan solo on producers.
Mr Maughan, a Traveller, shot to fame on Big Brother last year and was lauded for coming out as gay on the reality TV show. But this week he has resolved to not fake his tan. However, he confirmed to the MoS that he has had lip fillers to plump up his pout.
He had the lip injections just before Christmas at a clinic in Manchester and the results are a fuller, plumper mouth.
He also had his teeth whitened at Christmas and his dazzling smile were further enhanced last week when contrasted with his dark tan.
However, he even faced accusations of racism after his tan faux pas and he received vicious abuse.
His tan episode was even picked up by the international media. But it seems it hasn’t served him too badly as his agent has revealed that offers have come flooding in from the UK.
But he insists his only crime was overdoing the St Tropez.
He is back tonight, hopeful that his natural ability will impress the judges and scrub away negativity from last week’s brouhaha.
