SHAMELESS! HOW BECKS TIPPED ROSS THE WINK

Beckham’s agent simon Oliveira allegedly emailed the Jonathan Ross show producers, saying: ‘maybe Jonathan should ask about the knighthood and say he should get it. What do you think? David is up for it.’ he added Beckham would respond with an anecdote about Ross being a jinx because he had predicted (wrongly as it turned out) in their previous interview that the star would play for Britain’s 2012 Olympic team. Beckham did exactly that on the show…

Ross: Oh there’s one more thing I need to ask you. At the end of that goal montage earlier on, he [the commentator] said: ‘David Beckham, he’s scored the goal, he’s put us in the World Cup, someone please give this man a knighthood.’ Now we haven’t heard the announcement of the honours this year.

Beckham: Nor have I. Ross: They haven’t tipped you a wink or anything?

Beckham: I’m very honoured and lucky to have what I already have. The OBE I’m very proud of. You know, even to be talked about receiving a knighthood is an unbelievable honour, but I’m very lucky to have what I have.

Ross: I am going to stick my neck out and say I am convinced you are going to get it. I don’t see how they could possibly pass you over… How can they not give you a knighthood? You can trust me on this one, I’m pretty sure.

Beckham: But you did say the last time I was on the show that I will definitely be going to the Olympics with Stuart Pearce [Team GB’s 2012 football coach]… and we know how that went.
