HSE’s apology to McCabe
THE HSE has denied a counsellor involved in the Maurice McCabe allegations passed information directly to the Garda Síochána.
This comes as the agency, which has apologised to Sgt McCabe, confirms the counsellor who made the ‘adminstrative error’ in the controversy was, and still is, a HSE employee. A spokeswoman said a counsellor reported the allegations of abuse to the HSE Child Protection Services in August 2013. Tusla was formed in January 2014. The National Counselling Service was alerted in May 2014 to an error where a false allegation of abuse had been inserted into the file.
The HSE spokeswoman said all appropriate measures had been taken. She said the HSE apologised unreservedly to Sgt McCabe and his family.
