BRUCE’S VILLA THAT’S TO DIE HARD FOR

EVEn action heroes need a spot of down-time and Die Hard star Bruce Willis retreated to this ocean-front property in the glorious Turks and Caicos islands to marry his second wife, model Emma Heming, below, in 2009. The stunning compound, called The Residence, is the biggest in the celebrity-strewn Parrot Cay resort. It boasts cool white furnishing­s, five bedrooms in the main house, plus two further three-bedroom guest villas, and a palm-fringed pool. It costs €7,600 a night – or €53,200 a week – for the whole villa but you do get a butler to plan your activities, from castaway picnics to some gentle kayaking.

TAKE 46 FRIENDS... BUT THE BILL MIGHT STING YOU

Enjoy every breath you take at musician Sting’s 900-acre estate in the hills overlookin­g Florence. He spent years restoring the 16th Century property and, for €9,400 a night, guests can use the pool, a giant chessboard in the garden and peruse the star’s wine cellar. The main villa and four guesthouse­s can accommodat­e up to 47 people. There is, of course, a yoga retreat as well as a recording studio and conference facilities. The estate’s olive oil has been sold at Harrods.

KIRSTIE’S SLICE OF HEAVEN IN DEVON

IT’S all about location, as TV property expert Kirstie Allsopp always reminds us – and this one is stunning. Kirstie has liberally sprinkled her own brand of homecraft all over this holiday house, which is just minutes from secluded Welcombe Mouth, one of the most beautiful beaches on the north Devon coast in southwest England. The sitting room has an open fire and large couches, while the kitchen has an Aga. It doesn’t come with Kirstie’s TV sidekick Phil Spencer but it does sleep 14, with two cots. It costs up to €590 a night to hire – but perhaps Kirstie can be persuaded to take a lower offer?

WELCOME TO WAYNE’S WORLD

you don’t need to earn millions to live like a Premier League footballer. For €4,100 a night – two hours’ work for England captain Wayne Rooney – you can stay at his €6m Barbados home, built in 2010 on the exclusive Royal Westmorela­nd estate. Furnished lovingly by wife Coleen, right with Wayne, it has six bedrooms, an infinity pool and views of the Caribbean. The Manchester united star is a family man (dalliances aside) so the villa has a two-bedroom cottage for guests.

PERFECT HIDEAWAY IF YOU’RE A LOTHARIO OR A WALL STREET WOLF

Spend time in this Titanic-sized palm Springs mansion and sleep in the same luxurious bed as Leonardo diCaprio (Hollywood actor not included). His fully furnished holiday home is available for €3,500 a night, so you’ll need a wallet to rival the Wolf of Wall Street. designed by modernist architect donald Wexler in 1964, it is perfect for intimate social gatherings. Lothario Leo has often enjoyed the company of several ladies at a time and this secluded home can easily accommodat­e a crowd in six bedrooms and seven (and a half) bathrooms. There’s an impressive cocktail bar in the living room, another by the pool, a grand piano and a sauna.

LA RETREAT THAT IS MOST CONGENIAL

SHe was once miss Congeniali­ty but Sandra Bullock is no fool when it comes to prime real estate. She owns a growing coastto-coast portfolio of multimilli­on-dollar homes. This €470-a-night threebedro­om, three-bathroom home sits above Sunset Strip in LA, a stone’s throw from the famous Chateau marmont hotel. The 3,153sq.ft Zen-inspired property, built in 1942, opens into a voluminous, skylight-topped foyer and boasts views of the city.

ULTIMATE SATISFACTI­ON AT MICK’S MUSTIQUE PAD

Gimme Shelter? perhaps Rolling Stones frontman mick Jagger had this six-bedroom bolthole in mind. Stargroves is a Japanese-style beachfront compound on mustique – and dad-of-eight Jagger certainly needs all those bedrooms! The villa, which costs up to €2,800 a night, sits among coconut palms with views of nearby islands, and guarantees satisfacti­on for up to 10 people.

BROOKE’S PLACE WILL BE ALL WHITE FOR A FEW NIGHTS

TAKe care not to leave any scuff marks or handprints in this house owned by Brooke Shields – it’s painted in various shades of white. The former child actress’s rustic retreat is in the middle of woods in the LA beachfront district of pacific palisades. it has five bedrooms and a private pool, while the timber-clad exterior matches its surroundin­gs. yours for €1060 a night.

PS ONE CAN VAMP IT UP IN TRANSYLVAN­IA

FAnCy a spot of vampire-hunting? Then head for prince Charles’s private rural retreat in Transylvan­ia, in the heart of Romania. Rather than pursuing blood sports, however, he hopes guests at the 18th Century property in Zalan Valley will enjoy the wildflower meadows and local traditions. Conservati­onist Charles ensured the home was restored using traditiona­l methods and materials. it is ideal for walkers and nature-lovers and up to 14 guests can enjoy the solitude and sleep like a (future) king for just €120 each a night.
